There are many benefits to your health if you start using teamwork to achieve your goals. Being in a team is great. Working together with a group of people all trying to achieve a common goal. Most people have been involved with teams in some respect, their entire life. In large parts, a lot of peoples most successful moments have been achieved in a team environment.

There is something so fantastic about a group of people coming together, combining forces and working to achieve a goal. It is something that happens every day across most areas of life and could not be more true with health and fitness.

In fact, there are plenty of health benefits of teamwork, particularly for your fitness goals.

If you want to achieve something, anything, individually, you will be better off working in a team to reach that goal.

Teamwork can happen in all areas of life.

Of course, there will always be sports and the workplace where teams are at the forefront. But there are also other areas where being in a team can be advantageous.

A few examples would include:

  • Working with a business coach to further your business.
  • Having a financial advisor to improve finances.
  • Combining forces with a health coach to improve your health.
  • Even working with a psychologist to improve your mental health can be seen as fantastic team work.

As long as there are at least 2 people coming together to achieve a common goal, you have a team.

Here are 4 health benefits of teamwork and working together in order to achieve your health and fitness goal, no matter what it is.

You are no longer alone; you have support

Starting on a health and fitness journey can be incredibly difficult.

Finding out where to start, what information to take in, what type of program you need, how long to be on the program, are all challenging questions that need answers. These answers (unsurprisingly) can be hard to find.

Having someone with you every step of the way can streamline the whole process and eliminate those tricky questions. Especially if that someone in your corner knows what they are talking about!

Building in layers of accountability is crucial for success. Tell those important people in your life what you are planning to achieve. Chances are there will be someone in your circle that wants to make health and fitness changes as well.

At the very least, let the people around you know so they can keep you accountable. The more people you have in your corner to help you through challenging situations, pick you up when you are struggling and get you out of bed on a cold morning the better.

Allowing people to support you also means that you have more than just yourself to rely on, and in turn let down.

Accountability is a wonderful thing!

If you are unsure as to how to go about achieving your desired goal, ask for help. Ask someone for advice, talk to a Personal Trainer, go online, educate yourself. This is very important. It will set you up with the knowledge and tools required to make the changes required.

Personal Trainers have dedicated their lives’ to helping people achieve their health and fitness goals, and finding someone who is passionate and able to help you get there gives you an immediate head start.

Exercise becomes fun, and it is now easier to get out of your comfort zone. You can get a serious workout, without being serious – it’s okay to have fun. In fact, the more fun your workouts are, the more you’re going to look forward to them and be committed over the long-term.

There’s absolutely no doubt that having a training partner/personal trainer can make your workouts more fun. Working out alone can be lonely, so just having that social contact – being able to laugh, encourage and motivate – will make exercise much more enjoyable.

When you’ve got someone else with you it’s much less intimidating to start using the gym, going to new classes, trying free weights or just trying out new exercise equipment. If you have a personal trainer, you will also have someone who can guide you through new movements, monitor new exercises and make you feel comfortable doing something that you otherwise would not be doing on your own. Which leads in to the next point.

teamwork with exercise

Working with someone is generally safer and your form can be monitored

Having someone who has experience in a gym environment means that you have someone making sure that your technique is correct. They will also be able to provide support in tricky situations (when the bench press is getting too heavy etc).

Most training injuries occur in the gym when someone is training incorrectly and they do not have someone to spot them when it gets to be too much.

In a perfect world this would be a personal trainer.

Someone with years of experience who can:

  • Show you the perfect form for each exercise.
  • Correctly support you when required.
  • Introduce you to new movements when necessary.

If having a personal trainer is not something that you are looking for, then it would be highly recommended to get a training partner. This will mean that you will have them there to make sure you are not risking injury AND also provide more motivation for your workouts.

You are less likely to skip a training session when you have someone who is waiting for you in the gym!

Increased commitment

It’s one thing giving your own workout the flick, but it’s much, much harder to ditch a workout when you know you’re going to be letting someone else down.

If you have someone who is relying on you, another person who is expecting you to be there to exercise, then you are much more likely to keep a regular commitment to your goals.

This means you will create a routine, and then down the line, if you stay consistent, you will be hitting your health and fitness goal.

A key reason why people fail to hit their goals is the fact that they simply lose motivation. If you can put stop gaps in place to ensure that the motivation is outsourced, then you will give yourself a better chance of long-term success.

The benefits that can come from having a team of people that are committed to helping you achieve your desired goals are numerous. Instead of simply relying on yourself, you have a built in support network who want to see you succeed. They will be there to cheer on all the little victories along the way.

These are just a few of the simple health benefits of teamwork and how it can help achieve your health and fitness goals. There are many many more.

The #1 take away from this should be that having a great team around you is only going to help you to achieve your health and fitness goal.

In fact you will do it much faster than if you go it alone.

Sounds pretty good to us!
